Elite 2026 Offensive Lineman Tyler Merrill 'Learned a Lot' at Syracuse Camp

The Cumberland Valley standout discusses the Orange and more.

Mechanicsburg (PA) Cumberland Valley offensive lineman Tyler Merrill is one of the best at his position in the 2026 recruiting cycle. That is why, despite only playing his freshman year of high school, he already holds offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others. He was on the Orange campus over the weekend participating in Syracuse's Elite Prospects Camp.

"I learned a lot, it was awesome," Merrill said. "I learned a lot of fundamental things, such as a more vertical kick step, which is still a new concept to me. And just footwork and body position."

Merrill's primary recruiter at Syracuse is Chris Achuff, defensive line coach. He recruits Pennsylvania for the Orange and has already developed a strong relationship with Merrill.

"Oh it's awesome, I really like him," Merrill said. "He stopped by at my high school and we talked for a good while. He's a great guy and I love working with him, even though he's a d-line coach."

While it is still early in the process, the 6-5, 305 pound lineman has a lot of interest in Syracuse.

"I love the culture they have built there," Merrill said. "The coaching staff they have and just the relationships I have with their staff."
