For Dye Twins, Syracuse Official Was Family Affair

Trashon and Travon Dye recap Orange visit.

Syracuse commits Travon and Trashon Dye took official visits over the weekends to get a closer look at their future home and showcase the program to close family. Visiting together is fitting since the twins also committed together.

"(The coaches said) that we are building a special group and it started with me and my brother," Travon said. "Coach Long also got up every morning to chat and have some coffee with my grandmother and aunt."

Dye's grandmother and aunt were key parts of the visit as it was the first time they got to see Syracuse.

"It was honestly intriguing to them," Travon said. "They saw father figures in the coaches, which was awesome and related to so many things on difference levels. So spending time with my family only made them feel more comfortable and convincing to them. Which made, without a doubt to them, that we are being left in good hands."

While the Passaic County Tech (NJ) standouts have been committed since March, this visit was critical for the Dyes' family to feel comfortable about where they would be for their collegiate years.

"It's more than just a visit for them," Trashon said. "They're the people who helped raise me so for them to see the environment and people I'd surround myself with was important. They wanted to trust Syracuse valued the same morals they've raised me to have."

While family signing off on the school was important, the twins also were able to do other things during the visit. Travon played golf at Drumlins with defensive coordinator Rocky Long, and they played football in the pool with some current players. They also helped recruit other prospects on campus who were not previously committed.

"Zekai Wimberly, who is also a Jersey guy," Travon said. "I already had a relationship with him. In the past we played each other almost every year. And Jaden (Hart). Our families hung out the entire weekend. Really enjoyed one another's company."

Trashon Dye is expected to play running back at Syracuse while Travon will be a linebacker. Both are versatile athletes, however, that play multiple positions in high school.
