Ja'Meer Thomas Commits to Syracuse

The Orange lands one of the most explosive athletes in New York in the 2024 class.

One of the most explosive athletes in New York in the 2024 class has committed to Syracuse. Buffalo (NY) Bennett wide receiver Ja'Meer Thomas has committed to Syracuse according to a report from The Buffalo News. He was offered on Tuesday and committed just days later. While Thomas has not announced his decision publicly, sources confirmed the decision.

"I felt it was the right time," Thomas said.

After receiving his first power five offer from the big in-state school, Thomas said he felt both excited and relieved.

"Because I love Syracuse a lot," Thomas said. "I had a great time down there. I love the environment."

After picking up the offer, Thomas admitted that committing crossed his mind. It did not take long for that to become a reality. The 5-10, 170 pounder immediately put Syracuse on top after the offer and decided not to wait any longer. He jumped onto the radar during a seven on seven camp at SU over the summer. His explosive ability and open field elusiveness was on full display throughout camp.

Thomas plays for the same high school that current Orange freshman defensive lineman Rashard Perry played for last year.

"Very excited, Thomas said. "That's my brother and a great teammate."

He reports to run a 40 in the 4.4s, and that speed is part of why he is so productive on the field. As a junior, Thomas was second on the team with 722 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He led the team with 37 receptions for 813 yards (22 yards per reception) and 10 more touchdowns.
