Joseph Filardi Recaps 'Great' Syracuse Visit

In this story:
Class of 2025 quarterback Joseph Filardi stars for Half Hollow Hills West High School in New York. During his sophomore season, he was 130-212 (61.3%) for 2,028 yards, 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also ran for 642 yards and three more scores. The All County and All Division performer was on the Syracuse campus on Saturday for an unofficial visit.
"Great, I enjoyed it a lot," Filardi said. "I got to watch the spring practice, meet and talk to a bunch of coaches and people. Got to see the Dome and the football facility. Had a meeting with coach Beck and then got to try on the uniform and take pictures."
Among the highlights was getting a close look at the Orange's football facilities.
"The facilities were very modern and nice," Filardi said. "The thing that stood out about the Dome was how big it was in person and how loud it gets with the music being played. The players lounge was very nice and there was a lot of history that was displayed throughout the facilities."
Another key moment on the visit was meeting with offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jason Beck.
"Meeting with coach Beck was good," Filardi said. "We talked about all the information the offensive players have to know. We talked about how he started coaching and his career. I really like him and think he's a great guy and coach."
While an offer has not been extended and was not discussed during the visit, Beck let Filardi know he will come see him throw in person at some point. Potentially during the next evaluation period.
"I like the school and I could see myself going there," Filardi said. "I am interested."
Filardi has a visit to Penn State on April 1st. His father, Gerald Filardi, played linebacker at PSU and his brother is currently on the lacrosse team.

EXPERIENCE Mike McAllister has been covering Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting for more than a decade. Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher. Mike oversaw the transition from Scout to 247Sports, and ran the site on that network for years. Presented with the opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the sports journalism industry, Sports Illustrated, Mike jumped at the chance.
