Khalil Ahmad Leaving Syracuse Football

The Orange lost a member of its recruiting staff.

Khalil Ahmad, Executive Director of Personnel and Recruiting, is leaving Syracuse football, he announced in a social media post Thursday.

“Appreciate Coach Brown and the Administration for the opportunity,” Ahmad said in the post. “Nothing but love to the entire Orange community but I’ll be moving on to the next chapter of my journey.”

Ahmad was previously at Penn State for the 2023 season as the Recruiting Coordinator for Personnel and Recruitment. He previously worked at Syracuse as the Director of High School Relations under Dino Babers. That title is held by Dennis Thomas, who is expected to remain on staff as well.

Ahmad has extensive connections in the Northeast, including New Jersey. He spearheaded the Orange’s resurgence in the Garden State during the 2021 and 2022 cycles.

“Thank you to the entire PSU and State College community for welcoming me with warm arms,” Ahmad said when he previously left Penn State. “Happy Valley is a very special place. Thank you to Coach Franklin for the guidance, mentorship, and knowledge in my time here. Working for you has been an honor.”

Prior to coming to Syracuse, Ahmad spent one year at Rutgers following stints as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at various New Jersey high schools.

“Orange Nation, it’s been an honor to be a part of The Ohana’,” Ahmad said when he left Syracuse for Penn State. “The bonds I have built in my time in Syracuse will never be forgotten and I want to thank Coach Babers for an amazing opportunity. I’m excited for this next chapter of my life.”
