Marcus Adams Commits to Kansas Over Syracuse, UCLA

The class of 2024 forward has made his decision.

Class of 2024 forward Marcus Adams committed to Kansas over Syracuse and other finalist UCLA on Tuesday. Adams is rated a four star prospect by 247Sports and On3. He stars for Narbonne High in California and runs with Elev8 Elite in AAU ball.

Adams recruitment has been an interesting one. Syracuse offered in December and then hosted him for an official visit in late January as part of the Orange's game against Virginia in the JMA Wireless Dome. Syracuse seemed to have a lot of momentum at that point, but less than a week later his recruitment started to blow up.

After trimming his list to five, Adams would announce his recruitment remained open. Offers poured in from UCLA, USC, Arkansas, Kansas, Indiana, Tennessee Washington over the first two weeks in February. The 6-8 forward would then take official visits to Kansas and UCLA before trimming his list to three finalists. It included the three schools he visited: Kansas, Syracuse and UCLA.

Another wrinkle to all of this was the possibility of reclassifying back to the 2023 recruiting class. The Orange was recruiting him for either 2023 or 2024, but others were looking at him strictly in the 2024 cycle.

The early momentum from the Orange dwindled as others' grew, and it ended with a verbal commitment to the Jayhawks Tuesday night. Syracuse's 2023 recruiting class remains at one player in William Patterson, as does its 2024 class in Elijah Moore.
