Matthew Stenbroten Commits to Syracuse

The Orange lands a linebacker from Wisconsin for its 2024 recruiting class.

Syracuse football’s success on the recruiting trail since the beginning of June continues. Class of 2024 Lake Mills (WI) High linebacker Matthew Stenbroten has committed to Syracuse. The 6-4, 235 pounder officially visited the Orange last weekend, which sealed the deal in his recruitment. He did not have an offer entering the visit, but was extended a scholarship opportunity while on campus. He chose Syracuse over offers from Air Force, Ohio, North Dakota State, Wyoming and others. He also received strong interest from Illinois and Iowa State.

Over nine games in his junior season, Stenbroten racked up 61 tackles, six sacks, six tackles for loss and two forced fumbles defensively. He also plays tight end at Lake Mills High, where he had 654 yards receiving and six touchdowns.

Stenbroten becomes the fourth linebacker in the Orange’s 2024 recruiting class and 16th player overall. He joins Zekai Wimberly, Travon Dye and Jayden Brown in Syracuse’s linebacker haul this cycle.

Syracuse has been extremely active this month. Each weekend, the Orange has hosted several official visitors. That has led to securing 13 commitments so far in June, with Stenbroten being the latest. The Orange may not be done, either, as it is till pursuing several priority targets.
