Michael McMonigle Down to Two, Decision on the Horizon

The class of 2024 offensive lineman recaps Syracuse official visit with Maryland up next.

Class of 2024 York (PA) William Penn offensive tackle officially visited Syracuse over the weekend. The 6-6, 280 pounder enjoyed his time on campus.

"I think it went really well," McMonigle said. "I really enjoyed my time there. I think some of my favorite parts were meeting some of the players, talking to coach Farmer one on one and watching film with him. Watching film with him one on one was really nice because I got to understand how they run their offense more. Meeting the players was awesome because I got to have a true insight on the program and day to day life."

The film session was extremely impactful.

"My skills would translate very well to how they run their offense because my scheme in high school is very similar to their scheme right now," McMonigle said. "I feel like my coach has prepared me very well for the college level. He thinks I can translate very well and pretty seamlessly with however many years it takes me to develop. Get bigger and stronger, things of that nature. But he thinks I can translate very well to high they do things."

Current offensive lineman Jakob Bradford was McMonigle's host.

"It was really nice hanging out with him," McMonigle said. "He's a really cool and chill guy. He pretty much told me that how the coaches are now is how they will act when you get here. For example, if I were to come there, the coaches would act the same way like they are now towards me. How they are is how they are. They're not two faced, they're really genuine player's coaches."

McMonigle enjoyed seeing the campus and facilities, but there was one thing that surprised him.

"The thing that surprised me that I didn't know before is how nice the player's dorms were," McMonigle said. "There are four bedrooms per dorm and each bedroom has its own bathroom. There's a really nice kitchen that's already furnished. There's a living room that's already furnished that comes with everything you need and cable and things like that. It was super nice."

At this point in his recruitment, McMonigle says he is down to two schools. Syracuse and Maryland. After visiting Syracuse last weekend, he visits Maryland this coming weekend and will then go into decision making mode. He does not have a set decision date yet, however.
