Syracuse Basketball to Host Three Elite Recruits This Weekend For Official Visits

The Orange will have two class of 2025 prospects and one 2024 commit on campus.

Syracuse basketball will have three elite recruits on campus this weekend for official visits. They include 2024 forward commit Donnie Freeman, 2025 guard Derek Dixon and 2025 forward Matthew Gilhool. All three will be in attendance for Saturday's football game against Clemson.

Donnie Freeman: Freeman, a class of 2024 forward, committed to Syracuse in May. He is a top 30 overall player in the class and top five at his position. He picked the Orange over offers from Alabama, Iowa, Texas, Maryland, Marquette, Xavier, Virginia Tech and many others. From the Washington (DC) area, Freeman transferred high schools this past offseason and will spend his senior year at IMG Academy in Florida.

Derek Dixon: Dixon is a four star guard ranked as a top 100 prospect in the 2025 class. He is an AAU teammate of Donnie Freeman as both played for Team Takeover this past summer. Pittsburgh, Providence, Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Villanova are among those recruiting him the hardest currently. He was offered by Syracuse in June.

Matthew Gilhool: A class of 2025 forward who reclassified from 2024 over the summer, Gilhool participated in Syracuse's Elite Camp in August and earned an offer as a result of his performance. He is considered a top 100 prospect and is listed at 6-10 as a versatile power forward with a lot of skill. Schools like Maryland, Miami, Mississippi State, Penn State, Rutgers and Virginia Tech are among those who have offered in addition to the Orange.
