Class of 2026 Somerville (NJ) High athlete Troy Hampton is one to watch in his class. Already attracting power five attention, he has the ability to play multiple positions at the next level. Over the weekend, he was on the Syracuse campus for an unofficial visit to watch the Orange play Army in the JMA Wireless Dome. It was his first ever recruiting visit.

"To be honest, it was really fun," Hampton said. "The pictures we took were really nice, the energy of the stadium and just the school itself was very cool to see."

The talented athlete had a chance to speak with some of the Syracuse coaches during the visit.

"I talked to the defensive line coach," Hampton said. "We just talked about my position, what school I went to and my grades. I also talked to the wide receivers coach. It was short but I got to meet him."

The game day atmosphere in the Dome left an impression.

"It was very electric," Hampton said. "The mascot running around the stadium. The fans hyping their team up and the comeback Syracuse had just made me feel like it was a nice community there. Also the tunnel the players walked through was very tough."

Overall, the visit made an impact on Hampton even though it is still very early in his recruiting process.

"It made me realize how big the school was," Hampton said. "How much more I really want to go to the next level."

Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. That site was called Nation of Orange, and Mike quickly established it as a go-to for Syracuse fans.  After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher. Mike oversaw the transition from Scout to 247Sports, and ran the site on that network for years.  Presented with the opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the sports journalism industry, Sports Illustrated, Mike jumped at the chance. All Syracuse was started from scratch by Mike and the Fan Nation team. It has now become a staple for Orange fans of various sports.  Mike has broken news on recruiting, Syracuse basketball and football team information and has established himself as the top recruiting inside in the market.
