Xavier Miles Discusses Syracuse Commitment

The class of 2024 lineman is excited to be part of the Orange's recruiting class.

Syracuse football added to its 2024 recruiting class on Monday when St. Peter's Prep standout Xavier Miles announced his commitment. Miles is a two-way lineman who is coming to the Orange as a big athlete. He could end up as either an interior offensive lineman or defensive tackle. He chose Syracuse over offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers, West Virginia and others.

"I've known coach Fran for years now and he is just such a great head coach," Miles said. "He is a very genuine, tell the truth person and he will help me get to the next level."

The timing of the decision is a bit curious, as National Signing Day was nearly two weeks ago. Miles did not sign on that day, and said the timing was a decision he and his family made.

"The relationship continued on with coach Campanelli, but coach Fran has been watching me play football since the seventh grade," Miles said. "He also offered me when he was at Rutgers when I was in the eighth grade."

Miles did not visit after Fran Brown took the head coaching job, but he has been to the Syracuse campus multiple times in the past. He also said he has friends on the team who were able to provide insight into what it has been like since coach Brown took over.

Once he made up his mind, the next step was to tell the Syracuse coaches.

"Everyone was excited and ready to get to work," Miles said.

Likewise, his family is also happy about the decision.

"They love it," Miles said. "Excellent academics, ACC football, playing for a great head coach."
