Class of 2024 West Orange (NJ) High linebacker Zekai Wimberly has committed to Syracuse during his official visit, he announced on social media on Saturday. Wimberly is the Orange's second commitment of the day, as running back Jaden Hart had previously announced his pledge. Wimberly chose Syracuse over offers from Ole Miss, Temple and several others.

The 6-3, 225 pounder visited for an unofficial back in April. He spent a lot of time with the Syracuse coaches during that trip and said he was able to bond with them. Those relationships proved to be critical as he made his decision, which was sealed during this weekend's official.

Wimberly is rated a three star prospect by On3 and the 119th best linebacker in the 2024 class. He has not been evaluated by 247Sports, ESPN or Rivals to date.

On his previous visit, Wimberly took note of the practice and how the coaches instructed the players.

"I noticed that everyone was non-stop competitive," Wimberly said. "Made me want to put the pads on. The coaches made sure everything was precise and done the right way or they would do it over. Most of all they had fun doing it and I feel that having fun is the key component of playing football. Of course it’s a business and a job but you gotta love doing it."
