Aggies Fall to No. 15 in D1Baseball Rankings After 1-3 Week

After starting the season ranked in the Top 10, the Aggies dropped out following a disappointing 1-3 stretch.

It is safe to say that the Texas A&M Aggies (4-3) have not started out the season how they would have liked to. Yes, being above .500 at 4-3 is not a bad thing in a vacuum, but when you look at what led to that record it paints a different picture.

Things were looking great for the Aggies to start the season after opening with a sweep of Seattle, in which they outscored the Redhawks 28-7 in three games. However, what came next led to the Aggies dropping in the latest D1Baseball Top 25.

The Aggies proceeded to lose three straight games - a midweek game against Lamar and their first two games of a three-game weekend series against Portland. While they did manage to avoid a sweep against Portland, they dropped all the way to No. 15.

Of course, early-season struggles don't mean much in the hunt for Omaha. After all, the Aggies started off slow last season, including an early season non-conference loss to Penn, and got hot at the end en route to a College World Series run.

Now, the Aggies turn their attention to a midweek contest against Houston Christian before heading to Houston where they'll face No. 14 Louisville, Rice and No. 24 Texas Tech in the Shriners Children's College Classic.
