Aggies Grind Out Sneaky Road Win Over Mizzou

Following an embarrassing home loss over No. 1 South Carolina on Sunday, the Aggies rebounded with a 69-67 road win over Missouri on Thursday.

Following an embarrassing home loss over No. 1 South Carolina on Sunday, the Aggies rebounded with a 69-67 road win over Missouri behind 22 points and nine rebounds from forward Lauren Ware inside Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Missouri on Thursday.

Ware shot 10-of-13 from the field and 2-of-4 from the line to lead the Aggies, while guard Tineya Hylton dished six assists in 26 minutes to help get the win.

Hylton hit four free throws with under 20 seconds left in the game to secure the win and push the Aggies' record to 15-4 overall and 3-3 in league play. The Tigers fell to 11-9 overall and 2-5 in SEC play behind 26 points and seven boards from forward Hayley Frank, while guard Mama Dembele registered seven assists to lead her team.

The Aggies jumped out to an early 15-4 lead behind a 12-0 run before leading at the half 31-25. The A&M defense held the Tigers to a season-low six points in the first quarter.

At the 7:18 mark of the fourth quarter, Mizzou's Grace Slaughter hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Tigers their first lead since 2-0 at 52-51. The lead went back and forth for the next six minutes before the Aggies had a late run for the two-point win.

The victory pushes the Aggies all-time record against Mizzou to 21-12 while pushing coach Joni Taylor's career record to 164-99 and 24-24 in two seasons in College Station.

Next up for the Aggies are the Florida Gators as A&M hits the road for a Sunday matchup in Gainesville at 12 p.m. CT.
