Clemson Tigers Coach Dabo Swinney Linked to Texas A&M Vacancy By ESPN
As the Texas A&M Aggies football program has set the wheels in motion to replace Jimbo Fisher as head coach, names of possible replacements are filling headlines around the country.
It seems like any head coach of any college program is fair game for a story, but especially a head coach who may have worn out his welcome at his current stop.
Enter Clemson Tigers coach Dabo Swinney.
SEC Network host Paul Finebaum suggested on his show on Monday that Swinney would be a good fit in College Station.
“Does he fit? Absolutely," Finebaum said. Dabo Swinney aligns very well, from a cultural standpoint, with Texas A&M. Would he leave Clemson? I think he would. They’re kind of sick of him, and I think he’s sick of them. And before some ‘Clemsonite’ comes out of his basement and starts telling me how wrong I am, after a while, that happens.
"Happens to every coach, usually. And there are few exceptions. Nick Saban, pretty good exception after 17 years. But I think Dabo would be reenergized. I think he would be able to recruit well out there. He’s a good recruiter. His program has slipped at Clemson. It’s not embarrassing, but four losses is not the Clemson standard.”

The Tigers are 6-4 this season, and just ninth in the ACC, but Swinney's previous success at Clemson is impressive. He's tallied 10 ACC Atlantic Division titles, eight ACC championships, and two national championships - the last in 2018 with true freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
On Tuesday, Swinney was asked about interest in the Aggies' coaching vacancy.
"Man I'm just focused on this job," Swinney said. "Always have been. Trying to find a way to beat North Carolina. That's it. Must be November... that's all I can say."
That doesn't sound like a resounding, "no," but is possibly the most ambiguous answer he could have possibly given.
