Five-Star Dominick McKinley Reaffirms Commitment To Texas A&M Aggies After Jimbo Fisher Firing

Despite the firing of Jimbo Fisher, the Texas A&M Aggies will be holding on to one of their top recruits in five-star Dominick McKinley

The Texas A&M Aggies scored a huge commitment earlier this fall, landing five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley.

But with the firing of Jimbo Fisher on Sunday, many wondered if McKinley's commitment to the program could change - especially with teams like the Texas Longhorns in heavy pursuit of his signature.

However, McKinley put a stop to those questions on Monday, reaffirming his commitment to Texas A&M.

"My relationship with (interim head coach Elijah Robinson) and love for the university hasn't changed," McKinley told On3. “I can trust Coach E, even if he was moved to head coach permanently.'

McKinley spoke directly with Robinson in regard to his commitment on Monday, easing his concerns.

“I spoke to him this morning and my relationship with him and love for the university hasn’t changed,” McKinley said. “I think he’ll do great personally (as the interim head coach).”

McKinley was the second-highest recruit in Texas A&M's 2024 class, joining five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, who committed to the Aggies on July 4.

The Lafayette, Louisiana, native was predicted to go to Texas for a better part of his recruitment. However, Texas A&M picked up a lot of steam as his commitment date neared.

McKinley stands 6-5 1/2 and weighs 280 pounds, and he is a disrupter along the defensive line. The Acadiana High School product had a solid 2022 campaign, racking up 86 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks, while intercepting two passes and returning one for a touchdown.

McKinley was Robinson's third recruiting win in the 2024 recruiting class, alongside Dealyn Evans and three-star Gabriel Redford.
