Texas A&M Aggies 5-Star DL Commit Dominick McKinley Will Not Sign In December

Dominick McKinley could be an Aggie, but he's leaving his options open heading into 2024.

COLLEGE STATION -- While Texas A&M still has a commitment from five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley, that doesn't mean he'll be headed to Aggieland for the 2024 season.

McKinley is not expected to sign during the Early Signing Period and will evaluate his options before making a decision. McKinley is one of two five-stars currently committed to the 2024 class.

A native of Lafayette (La.), McKinley is expected to visit LSU and Tennessee next month before signing on the dotted line. Texas and Oklahoma are also expected to make a push for one of the nation's top defensive linemen before he commits.

According to 247Sports, McKinley recently Facetimed with Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian. He also received an in-home visit from Oklahoma coach Brent Venables. Both programs could host the top player from the state of Louisiana in the coming weeks, though visits have not been set at the moment.

McKinley pledged his commitment to the Aggies under then-coach Jimbo Fisher in September. He was heavily pursued by defensive line coach Elijah Robinson and defensive coordinator DJ Durkin.

Fisher was fired following a 51-10 win over Mississippi State last month and was replaced by Duke's Mike Elko. Robinson, considered one of the nation's top recruiters, was hired by Fran Brown as Syracuse's defensive coordinator earlier this month.

McKinley is the No. 27 player in the cycle, according to the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings, and the No. 5 overall defensive lineman. Regardless of where he lands, McKinley is not expected to enroll early.

The Aggies currently have the No. 14 recruiting class under Elko despite losing several players since Fisher's firing.

During Wednesday's Early Signing Period, A&M secured the commitments of four-star safety Myles Davis, four-star offensive lineman Ashton Funk, and four-star linebacker Jordan Lockhart, among others.
