Former Texas A&M DL Fadil Diggs Commits To Syracuse

Elijah Robinson is adding a former Texas A&M Aggies star for his first season in the ACC.

Elijah Robinson might be leaving Texas A&M, but he's taking a former top-level defensive lineman to Syracuse for the 2024 season.

Former A&M defensive end Fadil Diggs announced his intent to transfer to the Orange for next season. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Diggs became a staple of A&M's trench play over the past two seasons. He led the Aggies with three sacks in 2022 and recorded 28 total tackles in eight games. This past fall, Diggs totaled 36 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.

Diggs announced his intent to enter the portal shortly after the hiring of Mike Elko at A&M. Robinson, who would later be named the Orange's new defensive coordinator after the hiring of Fran Brown, was influential in landing Diggs out of high school.

"I would like to thank Coach [Jimbo] Fisher, Coach Elko, Coach [Terry] Price, Coach E, and all of the Coaches during my journey in affording a young kid from Camden, New Jersey, an opportunity to play big time football in the SEC, which has been a dream come true," Diggs wrote.

"I will be entering my name into the transfer portal. I will be starting a new chapter of my own in hopes to continue to elevate at another destination. The journey to unlocking more greatness continues."

The location makes sense for multiple reasons. Robinson, who also served as A&M's defensive line coach, helped mold Diggs into a consistent pass rusher during his time in College Station. Diggs also grew up in Robinson's hometown, which is only a four-and-half-hour drive to upstate New York.

The Orange has continued to make waves via the transfer portal since Brown's hiring, landing proven talents such as quarterback Kyle McCord (Ohio State), linebacker James Heard (West Virginia), and safety Devin Grant (Buffalo).

The Aggies will close out the 2023 season at NRG Stadium in Houston in the TaxAct Texas Bowl against No. 20 Oklahoma State on Dec. 27 at 8 p.m.
