WATCH: Max Johnson Throws TD Against Arkansas As Aggies New QB1
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Brad Johnson threw two touchdown passes during his two seasons as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.

Max Johnson connected with Evan Stewart for a 32-yard touchdown reception to give Texas A&M an early 7-3 at AT&T Stadium. Johnson opened the drive a perfect 5-of-5 passing for 73 yards.
Johnson, who took over for the injured Conner Weigman in last week's 27-10 win over Auburn, looked calm in the pocket against a powerful Arkansas (2-2, 0-1 SEC) pass rush up the middle. He connected twice with Ainias Smith and Max Wright for first-down gains. He evaded a sack on first down to find running back Le'Veon Moss for a gain of 9 yards.
Weigman, A&M's initial starter, suffered a fracture in his left foot that will require season-ending surgery. Johnson filled in the second half in last week's win at Kyle Field and kept the offense driving, completing 7-of-11 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns, including a 22-yard pass to young brother, Jake Johnson.

While Johnson didn't win the starting job outright in fall camp, A&M coach Jimbo Fisher praised both quarterbacks, believing both could start in a pinch. Last season, Johnson replaced Haynes King following a Week 2 loss to Appalachian State and started three games before suffering a season-ending thumb injury on his throwing hand.
Last season at AT&T Stadium, Johnson connected with Stewart in the west-end zone for a 10-yard touchdown en route to a 23-21 victory over the Hogs. He completed 11-of-21 passes for 151 yards.
In two games in Arlington, Johnson has two touchdown passes, the same as father Brad had during the 2008 season.
The Aggies, who won the toss and deferred, will receive the ball to begin the second half.
