Preseason Projections: How Many Wins for Aggies in 2023?

Looking to bounce back from a rough 2022, the Aggies are a projected middle-of-the-pack SEC team in the latest preseason win projections.

After an offseason filled with an elite recruiting class and a meteoric rise in expectations for what was to come, the Texas A&M Aggies crashed down to reality in disappointing fashion last season.

While a few analysts saw them as serious national championship contenders the consensus seemed to be they were ready to take the next step and challenge Alabama in the SEC West.

Well, that was certainly not what happened. Rather, they went a disappointing 5-7 and failed to make a bowl game for the first time under coach Jimbo Fisher. Now, as the Aggies look to bounce back this season their preseason win totals were released by DraftKings.

The Aggies are currently projected to win 7.5 games according to DraftKings, putting them in a tie for the fifth highest projected win total with the Ole Miss Rebels and Arkansas Razorbacks.

Ahead of the Aggies are the usual suspects in the SEC with the Georgia Bulldogs clocking in at 11.5 projected wins, the Alabama Crimson Tide at 10.5 and the Tennessee Volunteers at 9.5

Of course, preseason projections in May are essentially pointless in terms of what will happen come the fall - which was shown last season when the Aggies sputtered to a 5-7 record after starting the season ranked No. 6 overall.

The talent, though, is there for the Aggies after back-to-back elite recruiting classes in the 2022 and 2023 cycle. If they can put it all together consistently on a weekly basis then don't be surprised if they manage to go over their projected 7.5 wins.
