Texas A&M Lands Two Transfer Defensive Back Commitments in 24 Hours

The Texas A&M Aggies have landed another defensive back transfer via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The Texas A&M Aggies are continuing to build via the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The Aggies started their Thursday with good news, with the Big Ten's top pass rusher Nic Scourton committing to the program.

Then last night, the Aggies ended the day with another, with former San Diego State defensive back Marcus Ratcliffe flipping his commitment from UCLA to the Aggies.

Marcus Ratcliffe

A former three-star recruit in the 2023 class, Ratcliff ranks as the No. 292 player and the No. 26 safety in the portal per On3. Per 247 Sports, he ranks as the No. 92 player and the No. 5 safety.

He originally picked the Aztecs over the likes of Arizona and Oregon.

In his freshman season with the Aztecs, the 6-foot-2 Ratcliffe had 50 tackles, one interception and a pass defended.

However, that wasn't the end of the defensive back commits for the Aggies, with Mike Elko landing a second defensive back on Friday morning in Cal Poly's Donovan Saunders.

Last season as a sophomore with the Mustangs, Saunders had 17 tackles, three interceptions, and 11 passes defended.

247 Sports ranks Saunders as the No. 106 player in the portal and the No. 9 corner. He was a three-star recruit and the No. 141 player in California as a member of the 2022 class.

The Aggies appear to be hitting the transfer portal hard for defensive back help after the losses of Tony Grimes, Kent Robinson, Deuce Harmon, Tyreek Chappell, and Jardin Gilbert, adding three secondary players in Central Michigan's Trey Jones, Vanderbilt's De'Rickey Wright and Kansas State's Will Lee III.
