Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond, 14 Aggies To Participate At Pro Day

Kellen Mond, three former players and 14 members of the 2023 Texas A&M Aggies roster will participate at the annual Pro Day.

A handful of members of the 2023 Texas A&M Aggies will have one more shot to prove their value at the next level on Tuesday at their annual Pro Day. The 13 former players aren't the only ones working out in College Station in front of NFL scouts.

Former Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond will work out alongside three other former players for a chance to return to the NFL. Mond also could be on the radar for the United Football League, which begins its inaugural season later this month.

A native of San Antonio, Mond started four seasons for the Aggies before being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings 66th overall in 2021. His best season came in 2018 after posting career highs in passing yards (3,107) and passing touchdowns (24). In 2020, Mond guided the Aggies to a 9-1 finish, capped off with an Orange Bowl victory over North Carolina.

Mond spent the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns. He made the practice squad for the Indianapolis Colts last year, but wasn't re-signed following the regular season

Former receivers Caleb Chapman and Jalen Preston, along with linebacker Andre White Jr. will also work out Tuesday. Chapman elected to transfer to Oregon following the 2021 season, but he only caught one pass for 15 yards. He later transferred to FCS Incarnate Word for the 2023 season and posted career highs in catches (38), receiving yards (656 yards) and touchdowns (eight).

White, who played in 37 games during his time with the Aggies, joined former A&M offensive players Haynes King and Chase Lane at Georgia Tech last season, where he recorded 24 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and 2.5 sacks.

Preston elected to sit out last season after spending five years with the program to prepare for the draft. During his time in College Station, the 6-2 receiver caught 35 passes for 468 yards and four TDs.

Receiver Ainias Smith, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson, defensive back Demani Richardson, and offensive lineman Layden Robinson worked out at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month in Indianapolis but now will have another chance to run drills and better their stock.

Smith, A&M's most consistent player over the past five years, will be working out for the first time since undergoing finger surgery after medicals revealed a stress fracture in his left shin that required a second opinion, thus forcing him to miss on-field drills at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Eight other Aggies will workout after not being invited to the combine: running back David Bailey Jr., fullback Earnest Crownover, tight end Max Wright, linebacker Chris Russell Jr., defensive backs Josh DeBerry and Sam Mathews, punter Nik Constantinou and kicker Blair Zepeda.

The NFL draft begins on Thursday, April 25, and goes until Saturday, April 27.
