It's been another disappointing season for football in Aggieland, and the program has undergone many changes in the past two weeks. Those changes include former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko's return as he replaces Jimbo Fisher as head coach.

While other fanbases look forward to hearing their school's name called during the College Football Playoff selection show, Aggies fans are looking forward to their bowl game. A&M became bowl-eligible for the first time since 2021 with their 51-10 win over Mississippi State on Nov. 11, just one day before Fisher was fired.

Oklahoma State Cowboys wide receiver Jordan McCray (12) rushes against the Texas A&M Aggies in the fourth quarter at NRG Stadium in 2019.

The College Football Playoff and Bowl Selection Show is on Sunday, and while the Aggies aren't in the mix for the playoffs, they'll know what bowl game they'll be a part of for interim head coach Elijah Robinson's last game with that title before Elko takes over immediately after.

On Sunday, it was announced that the Aggies were selected to play the No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 29.

Both teams are looking to take momentum into next season for different reasons, and a bowl matchup of this caliber provides both teams to do so.

A&M missed out on a bowl game last season after a 5-7 record, and the prior year after qualifying, but not having enough players to play due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Aggies beat North Carolina 41-27 in the Orange Bowl in 2020 and beat Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl 24-21 in 2019.

Overall, Texas A&M boasts a 20-22 record in bowl games.
