Texas A&M WR Mike Evans Agrees To 2-Year, $52 Million Deal With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Former Texas A&M Aggies star receiver Mike Evans isn't leaving Florida after all.

Mike Evans won't be headed closer to College Station after all.

According to multiple reports, the former Texas A&M Aggies star receiver and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to terms on a two-year, $52 million extension, keeping Evans in Tampa through the 2025 season.

Evans, a five-time Pro Bowler, will earn $35 million guaranteed, per his agent Deryk Gilmore.

A native of Galveston, Evans was linked to multiple teams following the 2023 season, including his "hometown" Houston Texans, but also made it clear he wanted to remain a "Buc for life" in Tampa. Everything, however, would have to come down to pricing if the Bucs wanted to retain Evans moving forward.

Earlier this offseason, it was reported Evans is looking to earn anywhere between $25-$28 million annually. At $52 million, the 30-year-old will earn $26 million each year, the largest deal for a wide receiver on his third contract.

Bringing back Evans not only will help the Buccaneers offense, but also serves as another catalyst in the recruitment to re-sign free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has said he hoped to continue playing with the standout wideout.

A staple of A&M's offense in the transition from the Big 12 to the SEC, Evans spent two seasons as Johnny Manziel's go-to target under Kevin Sumlin in 2012 and 2013. Together, the duo bested programs like Alabama, Mississippi State and Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl to secure an 11-2 season.

Evans finished his Aggie career with 151 catches for 2,499 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was drafted seventh overall by Tampa in 2014.

By far the most prolific receiver in Buccaneers history, Evans has been the definition of consistency. He's generated 10 1,000-plus-yard receiving seasons since being drafted, a record for a receiver to start a career.

Evans' 11,680 total receiving yards are 4,990 more than the next-closest Buc all-time (Chris Godwin, 6,690), and his 94 touchdown catches are 60 more than No. 2 (Godwin, 34).

Last season, Evans finished with 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns.
