Aggies Win Gave 'Juice' Ahead Of SEC Play

The Texas A&M Aggies, unlike Southeastern-Conference-foes the Alabama Crimson Tide, avoided sleep-walking into their game against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

It's easy to think back on past mistakes — one glaring one being the massive egg that the Texas A&M Aggies laid against the Miami Hurricanes. However, they aren't doing that in College Station.

Texas A&M defeated the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 47-3 Saturday, providing a burst of energy into a team ahead of Southeastern Conference play that had just gotten ran out of Hard Rock Stadium just a week prior.

"Just getting this win is great for us just going into the SEC schedule because giving us confidence, giving us guys on the offensive and defensive side that juice going into the week," defensive lineman Fadil Diggs said.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had a bad hangover effect after their loss to the Texas Longhorns at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sept. 9, struggling to beat the South Florida Bulls with only a 17-3 victory Saturday.

Leading up to their game against the Warhawks, the Aggies didn't want the narrative about their team to be the same as it is in Tuscaloosa right now.

"Put how you want to play on film because last week going to Miami, it was a bad taste, a punch in the mouth," Diggs said. "We wanted to put our effort on film and change that so other people can think differently of us."

Texas A&M dog-walked Louisiana-Monroe 27-3 by halftime before tacking on an extra 20 points in the second half for good measure. The Aggies' 557 yards of total offense were the most in a game since Sept. 4, 2021, against Kent State, while quarterback Conner Weigman's 86.2 completion percentage was the most in a game for an Aggies signal-caller with at least 25 passing attempts at least since 2000.

The Aggies' defensive held Louisiana-Monroe to 1-for-12 on third downs, something Texas A&M will look to capitalize on against an Auburn team that's 98th in the country at converting third-down attempts.

"Rush lanes," Diggs said. "Just keep the quarterback in the pocket, constrict the pocket, get him uncomfortable, and make him make tough throws."

The Aggies kick off SEC play against the Tigers Saturday Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kyle Field. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
