Only 49,024 showed up for Miami's season opener against Miami (OH), and the Hurricanes are now trying a new tactic to get fans in the stands against the No. 23 Texas A&M Aggies.

Miami's athletics department announced Tuesday that fans who purchase a ticket from its buy-one, get-one package for the Hurricanes' matchup against Texas A&M Saturday will get a complimentary ticket to their game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Oct. 7. Upper deck tickets for the promotional two-pack are $125 each, lower end zone tickets are $205 and club corner tickets are $310, according to Miami's ticketing website.

The Hurricanes will be wearing throwback uniforms that honor their 1983 national championship team and have encouraged fans to wear all orange.

It's no secret that Miami has struggled to fill Hard Rock Stadium over the last few years.

Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Hurricanes, holds approximately 65,000 fans. Since 2018, Hurricanes football has only sold old twice — both against Florida State — and eclipsed the 60,000 threshold five times in 32 games.

Saturday appears to be no different. Only a handful of sections have sold out with the cheapest face-value tickets being sold at $125 for upper-level seating where no alcoholic beverages are permitted, according to Miami's ticketing website. The cheapest resale ticket for the Hurricanes' matchup against is $51 on SeatGeek — nearly 60 percent below face value.

There have been criticisms that Miami needs a stadium closer to its campus as Hard Rock Stadium is 21 miles from Coral Gables, Florida, which is at least a 30-minute drive if not more when factoring in game day traffic.

Last season when the Aggies and Hurricanes met, there were 107,245 fans at Kyle Field, which broke Texas A&M's non-conference attendance record.

There's a chance the two teams play in front of less than 50 percent of last year's total Saturday.
