We've written it here before. The NCAA transfer portal giveth, and the NCAA transfer portal taketh away.

But for Mike Elko's Aggies, it's more giveth than anything. In the Jan. 18 edition of the 247Sports Transfer Football Team Rankings, A&M is at the top with 23 commits, including eight four-star and 13 three-star recruits.

The Aggies' average commit score of 89.24 isn't tops, that belongs to No. 2 on the list and fellow SEC power Ole Miss. But A&M's total points of 73.33 puts them at No. 1 in the country.

Elko's 23 total transfer portal commits are second by volume to Louisville, who ranks No. 4 overall on the list and holds 26 commits.

The latest prize for Elko and the Aggies is former Alabama four-star cornerback Dezz Ricks, who committed to the Aggies on Tuesday night. Ricks is the eighth defensive back to join A&M along with UAB's BJ Mayes, Flordia's Jaydon Hill, Kansas State's Will Lee III and Cal Poly's Donovan Saunders at corner and San Diego State's Marcus Ratcliffe, Vanderbilt's De'Rickey Wright, Central Michigan's Trey Jones at safety.

The Aggies kick off the Mike Elko era against Notre Dame on Aug. 31 at Kyle Field.
