Aggies Jimbo Fisher Reveals New 'Urgency' Ahead of Season

The Aggies were seemingly plagued by individualistic play late last season, as pointed out by A&M wideout Ainias Smith. That was attributed to players searching for their own identities for the purpose of receiving NIL deals. Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher is doing everything he can to make sure that doesn't happen again.

With just 16 days left until the start of the 2023 college football season, earmarked by the visit of the New Mexico Lobos to College Station, one of the themes at practice is team play.

“You just get a sense. How guys are working, how they’re relating to each other. I like our guys, I like our dynamic right now. I really do,” Coach Fisher declared. He also added what the change was that differed from last year, “I like our dynamic as far as the energy we have in practice, coming with a purpose to meetings. Guys seem to be very locked in, very driven, very motivated. And you can sense it and an urgency to do things right. Just from the communication, the questions to each other, to coaches, that dynamic in practice.”

While team chemistry issues were just one reason for the Aggies' lackluster performance last season, it appears, at least for the time being, that the team is practicing as more of a collective rather than individuals. And that's just the start. We'll see beginning in September if that translates to success on the field.
