The Texas A&M Aggies have a potential quarterback-to-receiver combination for the future.

Class of 2024 four-star tight end Eric Karner announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Twitter Thursday, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. Karner chose the Aggies over the Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide.

“When I walked through the doors I knew it was home,” Karner told Fawcett. “The coaching staff, the facilities, the academics, is all great and I can see myself becoming a better player and person there.”

Karner is the No. 21 tight end and the No. 9 player in the state of Illinois, according to 247Sports.

The Immaculate Conception Catholic Preparatory School product is the eighth commit in the Aggies' class of 2024 and their fifth-highest in the cycle.

Karner has good height at 6-5, but will need to add weight once he gets to College Station and begins working with Brandon Sanders, the Aggies' head of strength and conditioning, as he weighs 220 pounds. The lightest Texas A&M tight ends are Jake Johnson and Nathan Figueroa who both weigh 240 pounds.

Texas A&M has been one of the better recruiters in the country at the position, bringing in a tight end in every cycle since 2017.

The news comes just over a week after three-star quarterback Miles O'Neill announced his commitment to Texas A&M, extending its 15-consecutive years in which it brought in a new signal-caller through either high school recruiting or through the transfer portal.
