Raiders Pick Former Texas A&M DE Tyree Wilson At No. 7

Though Tyree Wilson played just one season for the Aggies, he made his mark on defense, and only continued to do so at Texas Tech. Now, he'll join NFL coach Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders for his rookie season next year.

A former Texas A&M Aggie is officially on to the next level.

After spending his freshman season at Texas A&M, senior linebacker Tyree Wilson went from the Maroon and White to the Raider Red to spend his latter three years, and now he is the newest member of the Las Vegas Raiders as the No. 7 overall pick of the NFL Draft

Wilson tallied 120 total tackles throughout his college career, improving every season since his first collegiate game in 2019, and added 17 combined sacks for both the Aggies and Red Raiders, making him a force on the defensive end.

But he was also a force on the draft stage as well.

Despite spending more time at Texas Tech than with the Aggies, Wilson made his mark under coach Jimbo Fisher early on, but ultimately decided that it wasn't "home".

“I went to Texas A&M first… but just didn’t feel like that was home,” Wilson told NFL  Network's Peter Schrager. “[I] Got in the portal and then I built a relationship at Texas Tech, and was around great people [that] they helped me get me to this journey.”

Since then, the defensive end made himself known amongst draft scouts and others around the college football scene, earning multiple All-American distinctions in 2022.

Next season, Wilson will look to continue his defensive success at the next level for the Raiders under second-year coach Josh McDaniels, who did not see the kind of success that the Raiders' front office had hoped for.

Standing at 6-6, 275 pounds, however, the 22-year-old may provide the extra push Las Vegas is looking for ahead of next season.
