Aggies Land Commitment From Florida Edge Rusher Scooby Williams

The Texas A&M Aggies are on a mission via the NCAA Transfer Portal, this time landing a commitment from Florida edge rusher, Scooby Williams.

The Texas A&M Aggies are on a roll in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

In an offseason that started off extremely grim with 23 players leaving the program via the portal, including some of their best players in Walter Nolen and Evan Stewart, the Aggies have been making up some serious ground in recent weeks.

Particularly over the last few days, Texas A&M has landed a handful of impact commitments. That continued on Saturday night, with former Florida edge rusher Scooby Williams committing the the program.

“Coach Elko did a great job building the staff with quality people to help better and develop players like myself,” Williams told On3.

Williams is the second commitment for the Aggies from Florida on Saturday alone, with defensive back Jaydon Hill pledging to Mike Elko and his new staff earlier in the afternoon.

He is also the 15th commitment via the portal this offseason for Texas A&M, and the fifth player to pick the Aggies in the last two days. Williams is now the second edge rusher to pledge to the program as well, with the Big Ten's leading sack artist, Nic Scourton committing on Thursday.

A four-star recruit in the 2021 class, Williams ranked as the No. 84 player nationally, No. 7 edge rusher and No. 4 player in the state of Alabama, picking the Gators over Nebraska, North Carolina and Notre Dame.

Williams finished his final season with the Gators with 52 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles in 11 games with 10 starts. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
