Texas A&M Aggies star Tyrece Radford is gaining recognition for his impact off the court.

Radford has been named to the SEC Community Service Team for the 2023-24 men's basketball season, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Radford established "TheReceWay Foundation," a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students and educators in Texas and Louisiana.

The foundation provides essential school supplies and footwear to children in kindergarten through eighth grade, with the number of recipients growing from four in its inaugural year to 8-10 in the current year.

"TheReceWay" extends its support to local high school students by offering pregame meals to address food insecurity issues in the community.

To further support educators, Radford decided to cut his signature dreadlocks as a gesture of solidarity with his former academic counselor, Alise Svihla, who was battling Stage 4 colon cancer. This selfless act garnered widespread attention after Svihla shared it on social media, highlighting Radford's compassion and empathy in her time of adversity.

Radford's gesture not only provided support to Svihla but also raised over $30,000 to assist with her medical expenses. During the 2022-2023 season, Radford obtained permission to display Svihla's name on his jersey as a tribute to their friendship and to honor her during the Aggies' breast cancer awareness campaign.

2024 marks the 26th anniversary of the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball. Since 2004, all 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team, while at-large teams for men's and women's sports were chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC initiated the concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
