While many questioned TCU’s 13-game winning streak until this point, the Frogs' pitching staff has now come out to prove the doubters wrong in two straight weekends. Last Sunday, Louis Rodriguez was supposed to start the Sunday game against Oklahoma State. His outing was cut short due to weather but the sophomore right-hander more than made up for it this past weekend.

In Thursday’s game against Houston. Rodriguez threw 8.0 complete innings in only 89 pitches while also totaling a career-high ten strikeouts in the process. The more remarkable stat in his stellar outing was the fact that he only allowed a single baserunner through his first seven innings. When asked if he felt he had unfinished business after the OSU game, he responded: “Most definitely. I was kind of frustrated that I didn’t get the opportunity to finish, but we can’t control the weather.”

Rodriguez joins Chase Brunson, Anthony Silva, Braeden Sloan, and Payton Tolle as players who have received honors from the Big 12 and D1 Baseball. This marks the second consecutive week that a TCU pitcher has been named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, as Tolle received the honor last week.

The Frogs travel to Cincinnati in hopes of winning their second Big 12 series in a row, with the potential to go positive in Big 12 play with a sweep.

It's safe to say that the TCU baseball team now has more confidence in their starting pitching staff as they seem to get better every week. TCU’s midweek game is @ UT Arlington this Tuesday slated for a 6:00 p.m. start time.
