BREAKING: Tennessee Advances To Super Regionals

The Tennessee Volunteers beat Charlotte for the second time this weekend to win Clemson Regional.

For the third straight season, Tennessee has swept a regional. While this year's team wasn't nearly as strong as the previous two during the regular season, Tennessee was able to defeat a top 4 national seed in Clemson and Charlotte twice to advance to the super regionals. The Vols closed out Charlotte on Sunday night 9-2 to cap off a 3-0 weekend. Christian Moore was the star this weekend, hitting four homers in 3 games, including two in the regional final. His two-run shot in the sixth was a big response after Charlotte had cut the Volunteer lead to 2. Moore was named MVP of the regional.

On the mound, right-hander Drew Beam pitched one of his best outings of the season. After pitching lights out at South Carolina in the season's final series, Beam was stellar in the Palmetto State once again, throwing six innings with ten strikeouts and only two earned runs.  With Auburn dropping the first two in their regional, Tennessee will get to host a super regional next weekend after being on the road this week. The Auburn regional has unfolded in a way that no one expected, as the four seed and Ivy League Champions in Penn have to be beaten twice by Southern Miss. The Vols will have to beat one of those teams two out of three times in a stadium where they went 33-5 this season.
