Earlier today, news officially broke that Tennessee assistant Kim English would be named as the next head coach at George Mason. English has been a key cog in Rick Barnes's program, serving as one of the nation's best recruiters during his time on Rocky Top. English served as the primary recruiter for Kennedy Chandler, the nation's top point guard, and Chandler issued a statement on the change earlier tonight.

“I would like Vols nation to join me in sending a HUGE congratulations to Coach English as he has accepted a job to become a head coach,” Chandler said on social media. “My family and I grew extremely close to him during the recruiting process, and wish him nothing but the best. He will be missed on the sidelines. Nonetheless, I am still excited as ever to put on the Vols jersey and get to work for the legendary Coach Barnes. See you soon Vols Nation. #VFL.”

"Kennedy was one of our primary targets for a long time," Vols head coach Rick Barnes said after Chandler signed with Tennessee. "To us, his elite speed, athleticism, defense and basketball IQ separated him from every other point guard in America. But it was his character, work ethic and toughness that really made him a perfect fit for our program. We're very excited to have Kennedy and his family join our Tennessee basketball family."

Chandler is set to arrive in Knoxville later this year, and he is expected to be a day one starter at the point guard position and a future NBA lottery pick. Above is  an interview from less than two weeks ago with Chandler and his decision to come to Tennessee.
