Just In: Tennessee basketball lands commitment from Florida-based French standout

Quentin Diboundje Eyobo may not be a name Tennessee fans know now, but they will.
The 6-foot-6, 185-pound standout currently attends Florida’s Montverde Academy, but he announced his commitment to the Vols on Wednesday.
Thank you again to my mentor and to everybody around me that has helped me make my dream come true.

With Kennedy Chandler and Jahmai Mashack already headed to Rocky Top next season, Eyobo could be another essential freshman piece.
Eyobo’s announcement came on the heels of Keon Johnson’s NBA news, so the added roster name may bring some relief since Tennessee’s 2020 freshman phenoms are one and done.
We’ll see whether Chandler, Mashack or Eyobo could be in the same scenario next year. For now, though, all three are Knoxville-bound.
Ironically, Eyobo’s Montverde team is the one that Chandler and Sunrise Christian faced four times this season. Montverde won three of those matchups, including the GEICO Nationals high school championship on ESPN.
Eyobo also brings a fantastic skill set to Tennessee. He is a tall, lean shooting guard that could pair well with Auburn transfer Justin Powell, and he has plenty of bounce.
You can find some analysis on him below, as well as one example of his leaping ability at just 13 years old:
Quentin Diboundje, a 6'6 French guard from Montverde Academy CBD, has committed to play for Tennessee next season, Diboundje told ESPN. He shot 42% for 3 in 25 games this season, per Synergy, and is a versatile defender who can play any of the backcourt positions.

French import Quinten Diboundje Eyobo of Montverde scored 25 points that came at all three levels against a Link Year Prep team with some D1-bound talent. Diboundje Eyobo has a GW offer. Tennessee, UGA and TCU are also involved. The 6-6 guard looks like a high-major player.
