This past weekend, Tennessee hosted many talented prospects on campus for its junior day event. Bearden High School offensive tackle Brody Smith was one of the names attending. He lists offers from Colorado, Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, and more. The local product spoke with Volunteer Country after his visit to recap his experience.

"It went really well. I really liked the facilities and the hospitality, and it's for sure one of the better schools I've seen," the Bearden lineman stated. He was excited to meet some of the players involved at the university, including a current commit. "I talked to Justin Baker, the running back committed there; he's a really nice guy, and I'd love to block for him. I also talked to Austin Lewis, who was a player there last year."

As an offensive lineman, Smith spent most of his time around offensive line coach Glen Elarbee. "I was around Coach Elarbee the most, and it went great. He quizzed me on some line play, and we got to talk for a while. His pitch to me was that they get players to the league, they have a top program, and that it's a family at UT."

Smith came away impressed with how Tennessee runs its program. Head coach Josh Heupel has worked to build a family-oriented environment, and Smith took note. "It truly is a family there like no other, and it's really fun to be around." He confirms to Volunteer Country that he wants to visit again and that Tennessee is in a good position, as he says, "They are definitely one of the top schools on my list. I will be back on a visit for sure." He sees the fit in their offensive scheme, citing the balance, up-tempo attack that the Vols famously employ. "They are 50/50 on the run and pass game, and I really like that because it gives me the opportunity to show all of my skills."
