Bryant Wesco Commits To Clemson Ahead of Tennessee Official Visit

The Tennessee Volunteers lose out on 2024 five-star wide receiver Bryant Wesco.

The Vols have had a couple of tough days. Yesterday, their third-ranked 2024 recruit, wide receiver JJ Harrell, de-committed with rumors about him flipping to Ole Miss. Today, Bryant Wesco, who Tennessee had pivoted to after Harrell de-committed, announced his commitment to Clemson.

This past season, Wesco was able to show why he was deserving of five stars and a top 10 player in the country ranking. He had 1,160 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior. Wesco operated outside the hash marks as a Z-receiver, routinely creating separation with muscle twitch. He suddenly comes out of his brakes, able to stop on a dime and hold his ground. His ankle dexterity is the most fascinating part of his game - he can get 90 degrees out of his break and beat defensive backs to the spot.

With the Vols set to get an official visit from the Texas native on June 23rd, Josh Heupel and his staff will have to pivot again at wide receiver. Amari Jefferson is a name to watch out for out of Baylor School in Chattanooga. Jefferson is listed as a 3-star and is already committed to Tennessee for baseball. He recently included Tennessee in his top 6 for football. On the Clemson side of things, the Tigers are having quite the run over the last couple of days. Not only did the Tigers get Wesco, but they also got a commitment yesterday from Sammy Brown, the No. 1 linebacker in the country. As things currently stand, the Tigers catapult up to No. 8 in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports, while the Vols sit at 10.
