Dylan Brooks Lone SI99 Member for Vols

Dylan Brooks was one of the top targets in the 2021 class for Jeremy Pruitt and company since Pruitt took the helm in Knoxville. Brooks announced a commitment to Tennessee over the Spring, and he has remained the crown jewel of the class.

Earlier this week, Sports Illustrated All-American released their final list of the country's top 99 players, and Brooks was the lone signee on the list.

Brooks came in at 55th on the list, and he is considered one of the nation's premier pass-rushers.

Earlier this year, analyst Edwin Weathersby said on Brooks: Brooks is another player that is high on both our Edge board and overall board. He combines ideal length with solid activity with his mitts, including a chop and a powerful longarm stab. After he routinely reduces ground quickly on blockers, the long-framed Brooks shows enough ability to bend at entry points, before using a long stride to close and finish. With his length, Brooks can be a nightmare for passers trying to manipulate throwing lanes, as his arms and mitts present difficult obstacles. The future Vol also can be productive in the run game, showing solid scheme-read traits and mental processing, plus quick-shed ability versus tight ends and running backs. Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt is defensive-minded at heart and Brooks has the skill set to be a cornerstone defender on the edges in Knoxville.

Brooks had a fun recruitment to follow from the beginning as he is one of the more reserved prospects in the country. However, he recently sat down with VR2 on SI to discuss the final weeks of his recruitment, which included an attempt to keep his signing quiet until February.

Brooks said, "I signed on signing day, but I just didn't go public with it because I wanted to sign with my teammates in February. I got tired of it, so I just went ahead and came out with it because I knew where I was going to go the whole time, though, Tennessee."
