Tennessee has made it a point to get underclassmen quarterbacks on campus to start building relationships with them. They get several on campus for the Georgia game, including 2027 gunslinger Jameson Purcell.

Purcell plays his high school football for Maine South in Park Ridge, Illinois. He measures around 6-2 and 185 pounds and already holds offers from schools like Auburn, Ole Miss, and more. He is even connected to former five-star and current Volunteer quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Take a look at what he had to say about his visit to watch the Vols take on the Bulldogs inside of Neyland Stadium.

"The atmosphere was INCREDIBLE! Of all the campus and program visits I have made so far, Neyland is by far the loudest and craziest stadium! It's electric! I can only imagine how much energy you must have as a player on the field," Purcell said. "This was my second visit as a recruit, and it's always so awesome to come to Tennessee. The energy is off the charts, and the fans are so loyal."

He talks about the importance of talking with the coaches by saying, "I know the coaches are so busy on game days, but I have been really fortunate to spend time with offensive coordinator Joey Halzle on both visits. He has been so welcoming and has really great insight into the program and things for me to keep working on. I also had the chance to meet Coach [Josh] Heupel." He details what stands out about the offense: "It's a quarterback-friendly offense, and they love to throw to the perimeter. They also love taking vertical shots downfield."

As mentioned, he is connected to fan-favorite quarterback and former five-star Nico Iamaleava. Purcell states, "I have known Nico Iamaleava and his family for a while and trained with him out at 3DQB in SoCal. I really look up to Nico, and I have learned a lot from him. He's at a different level and such a baller. I have camped with his younger brother Madden, and my dad and their dad, "Big Nick," are friends as well."

When asked about visiting in the future, the freshman responded, "Absolutely! I can't wait for spring practice. My older sister is a current student on campus, and there is just something that feels like home every time we visit. Being a 2027, I have several more schools I want to visit, but I feel like I could see myself fitting into the culture, discipline, and traditions of the Vols program." Purcell follows that up by saying, "Tennessee is definitely one of my favorites. It's a top program with so much to offer as a student and an athlete."

Purcell has a long high school career ahead of him, but it is important to note that he has already received attention from many schools. It will be interesting to see where he will end up down the road and how big of an impact Tennessee might have on his recruitment.
