BREAKING: JJ Harrell Decommits From Tennessee

Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver commit JJ Harrell has decommitted.

After a tweet earlier today saying that an announcement was coming later, Tennessee Wide Receiver Commit JJ Harrell has de-committed from the Vols. Harrell is a four-star prospect ranked 143rd overall and 20th among wide receivers in the 2024 class. Harrell originally committed to the Vols in late February. Harrell is listed at 6'0 and was a very good scheme fit for Josh Heupel. While small, Harrell is electric in the open field and is one of the best playmakers in the class with the ball in his hands.

While he visited Knoxville back in April, Harrell never officially visited Tennessee and was scheduled to visit on the 23rd of June. With Harrell de-committing, the Vols have no wideouts committed in the 2024 class and no listed pass catchers. Jonathan Echols, their second-highest commit, does play Tight End despite being listed as an athlete. Harrell's de-committing hurts in itself but is even more painful when another SEC school comes into play. According to On3, Ole Miss expected to land Harrell. The in-state school had pursued the Mississippi native since he landed an offer from them in November of 2022, almost a month before Tennessee jumped in the mix. While Harrell leaving does sting, the Vols will be getting Five-star receiver Bryant Wesco in on a visit this summer.
