Playing at Tennessee 'An Opportunity I Couldn't Pass Up' For Transfer McGrath

Chase McGrath announced his decision to transfer from USC on December 19th. He did not hear from Tennessee until recently, but the opportunity to play for the Vols and Josh Heupel was too much to pass up.
"The opportunity to play at such a historic school in the SEC was very appealing. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up," McGrath told VR2 on SI Tuesday night.
McGrath will make the move from across the country later this week, and it will be a reunion with his former USC roomate, Velus Jones.
Jones became a starter for Tennessee in 2020, and he is expected to be one of the focal points in Josh Heupel's offense. He was a factor in McGrath choosing Tennessee.
"Velus was my roommate as USC, and we are extremely close. Him being there has made this whole process a lot easier," the former all-Pac 12 selection said.
McGrath is making the move from Los Angeles to Knoxville, and he is excited to get to experience a true college town. McGrath said, "I’m excited to get to work with the team and meet everyone. Also, I can’t wait to experience such an amazing college town."
At USC, McGrath hit 32-of-42 field goals, with a long of 52 yards, and 118-of-119 PATs in his career, and he has a tackle and a fumble recovery. He appeared in 30 games over his career."
Now, hitting the reset button on his career, McGrath hopes to continue and improve upon the success he experienced at Southern Cal.
"My goal is to continue on with the success I had at USC, and use my experience to contribute to the success of such a historic program (as Tennessee)."
