Scouting Tennessee's 2024 Targets: Rakease Passmore

The Tennessee Volunteers have targeted one of the premier small forwards in the class of 2024, Rakease Passmore. What does he bring to the table?

Rakease Passmore is a small forward from Asheville, N.C. He currently plays high school basketball for Combine Academy in Lincolnton, North Carolina. He is a four-star and ranked as the 40th-best player in the class of 2024. He also ranks in the top 15 among small forwards and the top ten in the state of North Carolina.

Thus far, Passmore has offers from many of the top basketball programs in the country, including Tennessee, Indiana, Duke, Kansas, Auburn, etc. He has 24 offers in total. A common trend is starting for the Volunteer's targets in the 2024 class. They all seem to have great athleticism and can finish some insane dunks at the rim. Passmore is no different, as his athleticism helps him to finish at the rim with both nice dunks and crafty layups. What stands out in his offensive game more than anything is his first move, whether it's while dribbling or in the classic three-point stance. This first move is explosive enough to kickstart a great drive to the rim and creates other looks at the mid-range and perimeter levels.

Passmore is also a lethal weapon in the transition game, using his athleticism to get to the rim with and without the basketball quickly. He also has his contested jump shot starting to come to form. This is key since Tennessee loves to use their "three men" on the perimeter to shoot like Josiah Jordan-James. The recruiting trail for Passmore comes into form for the Vols as head coach Rick Barnes has roots in the western North Carolina area in Hickory. He knows the area well, which can help him land the ultra-talented four-star.
