Vols Add Preferred Walk-On QB McDermott from North Carolina

Jeremy Pruitt and company have continued to work the recruiting trail despite all of the uncertainty around his job status. Yesterday, Tennessee added a quality preferred walk-on to their quarterback room in Sully McDermott.

The 6'4, 205 pounds quarterback from Marvin Ridge (N.C.) announced his commitment via social media yesterday.

He wrote: "After speaking with my family, my friends and coaches, I have decided to enroll early in college and forego my senior season at Marvin Ridge H.S. I want to thank all of my Marvin Ridge coaches, the administration, my teammates, and everyone in Mavs Nation for their support over the past few years. I also want to thank QB_Country, Carolina Xposure, ROEPRO, and Scott Chadwick for pushing me and helping me grow as a player and person. I am very excited to announce that as a student-athlete my next chapter will be with The University of Tennessee Volunteers!"

There was some confusion that McDermott was just a junior in high school because of his statement about foregoing his senior season; however, North Carolina did not play in the fall and is set to start in February, which is the reason for McDermott's statement.

VR2 on SI's Analysis: McDermott has nice measurables at 6ft4 205lbs. Frame could take on another 10 to 20 pounds if needed. Pretty athletic as he shows the ability to move the pocket. Throws on the run very well. Ball placement is very good. Could work on getting the ball out slightly quicker, but with coaching and repetition, that should not be an issue.

Below is a look at his highlights:
