Tennessee has been involved with Dee Beckwith for months, and today, the Vols hard work paid off. Beckwith, a four-star athlete from Florence (AL) committed to Tennessee over SEC East rival Florida. Beckwith breaks down the decision here with VR2's Matt Ray.

It ultimately came down to his relationship with the coaches at Tennessee. Beckwith said, "I have built close relationships with the coaches and players, and I have many connections outside of school."

One of those connections is Beckwith's cousin Lamonte Turner, who recently announced his season-ending injury from Rick Barnes' Tennessee Men's basketball team, who Beckwith also holds a scholarship offer from

Beckwith will get a chance to play with his brother, Camryn (Beckwith), in Knoxville as well. Camryn will join the Vols as a preferred walk-on, and Dee said on this, " It’s definitely great knowing that I get to play with my brother, and there have been good things said about Lamonte."

Tennessee moved the needle for Beckwith coming out of a recent official visit, in which he told VR2, "we just sat around and talked a bit like we would if I was on the team already. Actually, more than we have in the past, so I feel like it made us closer.”

Beckwith got to hear from the Vols on how he would be used if he chose Tennessee during that visit too. Beckwith said on that, "they told me they would use me similar to high school where I was moved to different positions in a lot of different situations."

It is likely that Beckwith, a high-school quarterback, will play a role similar to that of Jauan Jennings this season.

Beckwith will be a do-it-all athlete for the Vols on offense. He measures in at 6'5, 215lbs and runs a 4.5 40-yard dash, and he has a history playing quarterback. He is a guy that the Vols will be able to be creative with, and he is expecting to make an immediate impact in Knoxville.

Beckwith said, " I am looking to be the most energetic player. I am capable of being a leader on and off the field, and I am looking to make the biggest impact as soon as I get there.
