Dynamic 2022 ATH Terian Williams updates his recruitment, talks Vols

With the 2021 class already getting into the swing of things, Tennessee is also looking to prioritize a few early 2022 targets that will be committing before their senior seasons. One of those is highly coveted athlete Terian Williams out of Lilburn, Georgia. Williams has offers from a ton of SEC schools including Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU, Florida among others. I caught up with Williams in a recent interview to get an update on his recruitment, and a change of scenery for the prospect as he’s transferring schools.

Williams said that he will be transferring to Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia, one of the most prominent high school football programs in the state and really the entire country as they’ve sent a ton of athletes to D1 schools each year. Williams's transfer is due to a medical hardship related to a medical condition that his sister is dealing with. This is also a school that Vol fans will be very familiar with as it is the Alma Mater of current starting LT Wanya Morris and Georgia transfer Deangelo Gibbs. He will play all over the field at Grayson as he’s one of the best athletes in the nation and they want to get him the ball as many ways as possible. One Atlanta journalist that he did not specify gave him the nickname of “the playmaker.”

For Tennessee, it sounds like everything is in good standing with Williams. When asked about the recruiting process, Williams said “Recruiting Process is going well, I currently have offers from Tennessee, Florida, LSU ,Kentucky, South Carolina, FSU, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Howard, Illinois State, Akron, and schools that have shown interest lately are Northwestern, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Duke, Nebraska, Maryland, Notre Dame and Illinois.” He then continued on about the Vols and said “Everything stands good with Tennessee. Coach Rumph offered me but he just took a new position in the NFL, but Coach Pruitt stopped by during the recruiting period to say hi.” So it looks like Tennessee is heavily prioritizing Williams judging from the fact that they’re still recruiting him hard despite the departure of his primary recruiter, Chris Rumph.

Williams plans to commit this summer as he prepares for his junior and senior seasons at Grayson. This is much earlier compared to other athletes in his class but Williams is looking to have a plan set in place. He will be an early enrollee at his college of choice. Whoever lands Williams will be getting one of the best and most versatile athletes in the nation that has already played top competition and will likely have a smooth transition to the college game.
