Four-star Dee Beckwith discusses weekend official visit to Tennessee

Tennessee hosted a big official visitor this weekend in Dee Beckwith of Florence, Alabama. Beckwith is in the process of finalizing a decision on where he will spend his next few years playing basketball and football. He got a look at both of Tennessee’s programs this weekend and breaks it down here.
Beckwith said on visiting with Jeremy Pruitt’s football program, “we just sat around and talked a bit like we would if I was on the team already. Actually more than we have in the past, so I feel like it made us closer.”
Beckwith is a dynamic athlete that can play various positions. Which has made his recruitment intriguing to say the least. In an interview in November with VR2, Beckwith said on all of the schools recruiting him, “"they are all telling me I am a threat everywhere because I can line up anywhere; at tight end, quarterback, or wide receiver. Really, they are all telling me the same thing. They are telling me I am versatile and can line up anywhere."
Jeremy Pruitt’s staff made one of their final pitches to him this weekend and broke down what they could see from him on the field. Beckwith said, “they explained to me how they could use my versatility all over the field. Yet they are letting me workout for qb.”
Beckwith also holds a basketball offer from Tennessee but before this weekend, he was not that familiar with the program outside of what his cousin Lamonte Turner has been able to tell him. In the November interview, he said of the Volunteers Head Coach, "I do not know much about him as a person, talking to him he seems like a good person. He seems like a straight-forward person and a person that I could let coach me for four years. Hopefully, when I get there down there, I can talk to him and get to know him more as a person."
Beckwith finally got a firsthand look at Rick Barnes this weekend and said, “I kind of sat around with some of the guys in the lobby. I saw the expectations they had for every opponent.” The Vols spent a portion of Beckwith’s visit on the road playing Vanderbilt.
Beckwith will take a final official visit to Florida, and after, he will decide between the Gators and Vols leading up to the early signing period.
