Four-star Florida commit, Kamar Wilcoxson, talks Tennessee's recent push in his recruitment

Kamar Wilcoxson's recruitment has already been an exciting one to watch. The four-star athlete from the Peach State committed to the Florida Gators in November of his sophomore year but would back off the pledge in April, only to jump back in the Gators class in July. Tennessee hosted Wilcoxson once leading up to the initial de-commitment, and the Vols made a strong impact, but communication faded during the season. Tennessee is back in the race and Wilcoxson talks about that here.

Wilcoxson said on his recruitment by Tennessee, "we recently just got back in contact as the year started. I wasn't really focused on my recruitment during the season last year, but our relationship is back good."

Tennessee has made it evident to Wilcoxson that they are trying to be a player in his recruitment, as he added, " It (communication) has been pretty consistent. I talked to like 5 or 6 people on staff yesterday."

The message from Tennessee is clear, as Wilcoxson said, "they've been telling me that if they sign me, they expect me to play as a freshman."

Wilcoxson recent transfer to IMG Academy will make it harder for him to make a lot of visits that he would have been able to easily make from the Atlanta area. So, official visits will be key for him during this process.

He has made the trip to Tennessee on more than one occasion. After a visit last Spring, he told VR2 he, "spent time with Coach Ansley, Rumph, and Pruitt, and they all said they love my game, and that they want me on Rocky Top bad."

He added after that visit as well, "they jumped up pretty high on my top schools. I can't say what number they're at though."

With the Vos back in the mix and with a need to add impact players in the secondary for the 2021 class, it is possible that Tennessee could shake-up Wilcoxson's recruitment. However, he said on what it would take for a school to flip him from the Gators, " I really don't know, honestly. I love Florida, so for somebody to flip me, it would have to be something special."

Wilcoxson is rated as the 237th prospect in the nation and the 18th overall athlete prospect. He currently holds 25 division 1 offers, and he will play his senior season at national powerhouse IMG Academy
