Four-star in-state offensive tackle Eli Sutton updates recruitment, visit plans

Eli Sutton has the makings of being an immediate impact offensive tackle. Sutton measures in at 6'7, 285lbs, and carries his massive frame well, taking extreme pride in his footwork and hand placement when blocking. Sutton's recruitment is expected to be a national recruitment in the coming months with the 2021 class soon to be fully on the clock. Sutton gives on his recruitment here.

The four-star prospect said, "my recruitment's been going pretty steady at the moment, I have about 5-6 schools that really stood out to me that I want to investigate further. I've had 5 or 6 visits planned out for the months of January and February that I am really excited about."

Academics are going to play a huge role for Sutton during this process, and he plans to take a look at several prestigious schools in the coming months. He said, "I went to Duke and UNC this past weekend and Kentucky on the 16th. I am going to Georgia Tech on the 25th, Penn State on February 1st, and Northwestern on March 6th. I will make a trip down to Miami, but I'm still working on the details of that."

Where Tennessee is concerned, Tee Martin and Jeremy Pruitt are leading the charge for Sutton. He said on the Vols, "I hear mostly from Tee Martin and Jeremy Pruitt. The message I have received is that they need tackle bodies like me in the next class, being that they signed a lot of interior guys in 2020."

Sutton continued by saying, "They have shown that they really do want me at Rocky Top."

Sutton, a Tennessee native, has already heard the pitch to stay at home and represent his home state. He said on this, "I've heard a good amount from a couple of my friends." But is this something that he is interested in?

He answered that by saying, "the opportunity to stay at home and play in front of a home-state crowd is very appealing to me."

Sutton is currently ranked as the 156th overall prospect in the nation, number 20 offensive tackle, and number 2 prospect from the state of Tennessee for the 2021 class, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
