Intruiging Athlete Vai Kaho set for Tennessee official visit, discusses recruitment

Vai Kaho has been committed to Nevada since April 28th of this year, but that has not stopped other schools from coming after his services. The talented Bishop Manogue (NV) prospect is hearing from a handful of schools, but the two after him the hardest are Colorado and Tennessee. The Vols offered in late October, and Kaho will take an official visit to see them during the weekend of November 30th. He discusses his recruitment, timeline, and more here.
Kaho said of his recruitment, "nothing too big, two schools are staying in the picture; Tennessee and Colorado. Some other schools are staying in touch as well, but I am still committed. I am just taking it day by day, and I have to keep praying about it."
Mel Tucker is viewed as one of the best defensive minds in College Football, and he has prioritized Kaho since arriving at the University of Colorado. Kaho said of the Buffaloes recruitment of him, " it is really just them emphasizing that they like the way I play. They emphasize that home could be Colorado for me. They are just emphasizing really good things. I really liked it out there. It was pretty. Coach Tuck is in his first year, and he got on me right away."
Kaho said on which position he could play if he landed in Boulder, " they are recruiting me as a linebacker. I know that I can play at all three levels of the field, so I will play anywhere they want me to play to help the team."
The Vols got a late start in this recruitment, but they have kept in contact with Kaho frequently since extending an offer to him back on October 22nd. It also helps that he knows Jeremy Pruitt from his older brother's recruitment, which we will touch on briefly.
Kaho said of Tennessee, "they are pretty straight up. The SEC speaks for itself. I have been talking to Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt a lot and listening to his words and messages. He has been talking to me about similar guys that he coached that have my body frame. He really stresses to me the guys that he has recruited can be special."
One prospect that Pruitt recruited some, and would be coaching today if he had stayed at Alabama is Vai's older brother, Ale Kaho. Ale was rated as the number one insider linebacker in America by 247 Sports coming out of high school, prior to signing with Alabama. This allowed the younger Kaho to build a relationship ahead of time with Jeremy Pruitt.
Vai said on Pruitt, "I actually got to know him. He is the one who wanted my brother, and he actually recruited him. On his official to Alabama, we had a chance to sit in the office with Coach Pruitt and talk with him. As far as I know, he is just a really good guy. He is a straight-up guy, and somebody that I would want to be coached by."
Other schools will likely come into the mix for Kaho as the signing periods approach, but he has a timeframe in mind right now. Kaho said, "I am planning on signing December 18th."
He said for a school to get him away from his commitment, "it will just take that type of feeling where I feel like I can succeed. I believe in my capabilities, so it is mainly just where I can see myself growing and building the best relationships, and where I can see myself being there as a person more than a student-athlete. I guess you could say, just the right environment."
Kaho said of what he hopes to see from the Vols on his upcoming trip, "I would say that family aspect. Especially, if I do choose to come all the way down there to Tennessee. I would want it to feel like home away from home. That way it would make acclimating that much easier. Just feeling like I have a family there, and that they want a kid like me. Just a home affect."
In one month, Kaho will sign with the school of his choosing. One of these schools in the mix is going to get a versatile defender that plays various positions well.
He said of his on-field ability in his own words, "I am a guy with a good motor. I just love the game. I can't define myself as one thing. I think I can be an athlete that can do everything for me time. My main focus is winning, and I want to win championships."
Kaho is rated as the number 52 ILB in America and number 6 prospect from Nevada for 2020, according to 247 Sports.
